Are you looking to improve your scouting techniques for your short film or branded content? Or perhaps you are interested in working in the Locations Department in the screen industry, but don’t know where to start? ALMG’s Scouting Intensive 101 is a great way to gain insight into the profession of Location Management or simply add a skill that will improve the production value and pre-production of your creative projects.
*ALMG’s Scouting 101 has been developed with the assistance from Australian industry screen professionals such as Directors, Producers, Production Designers and Cinematographers.
About your Tutors
Roger Paul has over 25 years of experience in both international and local screen production as an Assistant Director and Location Manager in Canada and Australia.
Jacob Livermore is a Manager and Supervising Location manager based in Brisbane, who predominantly works in features and long-form series.

The course will happen across 2 x weekends.
Participants will given scouting exercises and have their work reviewed. Upon completion of the course, students will receive a certificate of completion and an opportunity to obtain an ALMG Emerging Crew Membership at a discounted rate.
5 X DAY LOCATION DEPARTMENT INTENSIVES
To address skills shortages and support new crew entering the Locations Department, ALMG in partnership with the Australian Television Radio School (AFTRS), has created an in-depth course exploring all areas of the Locations Department.
Featuring guest speakers, engaging learning activities, and real-life examples relevant to each Australian state, the AFTRS intensive serves as an excellent precursor or follow-up to ALMG Scouting Intensive 101.
The course is a great introduction for those interested in joining the locations department, and will be of value to Producers, Production Managers, Assistant Directors wanting to strengthen their skills arsenal for filming on location.
