NATIONAL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE FOR 2025-26

IntroducING OUR NEW BOARD MEMBERS

From Left: Victorian Location Managers Yuki Nagashima & Mel Dunstone

STATE REPRESENTATIVE FOR VIC: YUKI NAGASHIMA

Yuki has worked in the Locations department as an On Set Location Manager for several years. He has also been a Manager, Assistant Manager and Scout on a number of local and international projects.

The Locations Department is a crucial connection between the filming world and the real world. The first point of contact for anyone in and around filming locations. The On Set Location Manager is the "face" of the production to those in the real world and the interactions with them makes the role very important for the smooth running of the filming. The relationships you form with the crew, location providers and general public is very rewarding. Organising and implementing the logistics of each location is a challenging but fun aspect of the role.

Project highlights include High Country S1 and Turn Up The Volume as Location Manager and as an On Set Location Manager, Family Next Door, Mongoose, Fires, Windcatcher and Woody Woodpecker Goes to Camp.

State Representative FOR VIC: MEL DUNSTONE

Starting out in Production in South Australia, Mel crossed over to the Locations Department on series McLeods Daughters and hasn’t looked back. She has over 20 years of experience as a FILM / TV Location Manager and has worked on different sized projects in a variety of locations, from remote regional areas to inner city high-end locations. Mel has based herself in Victoria, but does significant amount of work interstate, with recent projects taking her to Tasmania and Western Australia. “I enjoy the process of working through logistical challenges and creating an environment where open communication & a happy, engaged team is of utmost importance,” says Mel.

Recent projects as a Supervising Location Manager include Windcatcher, Love Me, Deadloch, The Family Next Door and Bay of Fires.

From Left: New South Wales Location Manager Billie Acosta & South Australian Manager Scott McCarten

State Representative FOR NSW: BILLIE ACOSTA

Billie is a photographer by trade and when her kids were smaller she spent five years managing global logistics for a Spanish tech company, so both skill sets proved very transferable to the world of locations!

Billie loves people, places and story, and “the locations department is where it’s at as far as I’m concerned”! When she’s not scouting or otherwise managing locations in various stages of production across the state, you might occasionally find her doing stills or BTS on set, as she still has a regular photodocumentary practice.

For Billie “Highlights of any job are always when my wildcard piques interest - ikyk! And of course when my locations add real value to a production.”

State Representative FOR SA: SCOTT MCCARTEN

Prior to working in locations, Scott’s background was in facilities management and event management, primarily in local government. Outside of this, he did a lot of personal photography with a particular focus on urban exploration of abandoned and disused spaces - his website Autopsy Of Adelaide is still active, “though I have little time for passion projects these days”, says Scot.

Scott loves how we straddle the world of creative and logistic, with the thrill of the chase when scouting and securing amazing locations.  He loves the relationships we build with location owners and crew, and weirdly,  the fast pace and stress that comes with the job.  Scott has done several jobs in Coober Pedy and  just come back from shooting five weeks up there for Treasure & Dirt. Stars On Mars, which was also filmed there, was another stand-out, “as it was such a frenetic job on a large scale.”

Some of Scott’s hopes and main interests for joining ALMG include Recruitment and retention of locations crew, elevating the importance of the role of locations department and one day peer/industry recognition – perhaps awards for locations.
