BIG WEEKEND FOR WESTERN AUSTRALIAN SCREEN INDUSTRY

The Launch of WAIFC

A huge weekend for the Western Australian film industry kicked off early on Friday 11th September at Government House Ballroom, for the official launch of the Western Australian Indian Film Council (WAIFC). Founding partner Crew Connect WA will provide WAIFC and incoming Indian productions with a trusted pathway to Western Australian crew, industry services and local production support. General Manager Christine Thorpe states, “Becoming a Founding Partner of WAIFC is a very exciting opportunity for Crew Connect WA and for Western Australia. I’m already in discussions with Indian productions interested in using Western Australian crew and industry services, so we’re starting to see the potential of these connections already.”

ALMG STAND AT PERTH FILM STUDIOS CAREER & OPEN DAYS 

More than 15,000 people walked through the Perth Film Studios doors, to participate in the Career and Open Days on Friday 11th and Saturday 12th September. The public were were treated to special screenings, panels, technical demonstrations and had an opportunity to network with screen businesses, educators, guilds, cast and crew.

Local WA Locations Department crew manned the ALMG stand and according to ALMG WA State Representative Claire Burton, it was an outstanding success.

“The inquisitiveness from the people visiting our stand was huge! People were registering their properties as filming locations and interesting in learning more about the Locations Department and potentially working in it. ALMG also made the Instagram story feed of the Minister for Arts and Culture and the Deputy Premier of WA twice! The weekend was about creating awareness about our department and the guild and we certainly achieved that.”
